A fascinating and troubling poet of the digital age, Ikeda’s profound investigations in sound, time and space have their basis in mathematical methods which result in works of spare, sublime, if occasionally ear-splitting beauty. Spanning the microscopic to the infinite, his performances, installations and artworks variously produce sine waves, sound pulses, pixels of light and numerical data - sometimes in extraordinary combinations.

designcloud:

The Innovation of Loneliness by Shimi Cohen.

This awesome animation talks about how social networks increase our loneliness and separate us instead of making us more social. We are obsessed with the self promoting and we have a lot of friends that only create vague connections, superfluous chats with too many people instead deep connections. The technology guide us to choose quantity instead of quality.

The work is inspirated and based on the wonderful book Alone Together: Why We Expect More From Technology and Less from Each Other by Sherry Turkle.

Both fascinating and visually stunning.
